Prelude: Warning Difficult to Understand!

Warning this article may be difficult to comprehend. If it is too complex and you are bothered by it; then exit out of this subject and leave it alone!

Proverbs 6:16-19, "These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to mischief, A false witness who speaks lies, and One who sows discord among brethren."

A False Witness Examined in Detail

Proverbs 6:19, "A false witness who gives false testimony. … " which is an abomination to God. False prophets and teachers who are false witnesses, by their evil testimony, become an abomination to God. 2 Peter 2:1-2, "But there were also false prophets among the people, as indeed there will be false teachers among you, who will stealthily introduce destructive heresies, personally denying the Lord who bought them, and bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 And many people will follow as authoritative their destructive ways; and because of them, the way of the truth will be blasphemed."

A false witness that speaks lies is distinguished from a lying tongue, which is the second evil mentioned in Proverbs chapter six. "A false witness" highlights the sin of bearing false witness against one's neighbor, a violation of the eighth commandment. Deuteronomy 5:20, "And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." An individual that speaks lies and broadcasts them to others is causing damage to others. To tell lies is to bring condemnation upon yourself and is injurious to your character. However a false witness lies and is doing, or causing, damage against others! They lie or misrepresent the truth, often for personal gain or to harm someone's reputation. Such false testimony is especially dangerous because it can destroy lives, families, and friendships. When someone shares false information, it can create an unfair judgment or an assumption about another person. Many times, people get hurt without even knowing the truth.

The "false witness that speaks lies" represents an affront to trust and integrity. As individuals, we carry a responsibility towards uplifting each other through honesty. Lies create traps; ensnaring both the liar and the victim, leading to pain and heartache. When anyone decides to lie, they distance themselves from the truth and, ultimately, from God's grace. Spreading negativity damages our connections and releases an atmosphere of distrust; encouraging division between family, friends, and fellow believers and can create chaos, thus destroy unity among communities. We are directed in: Ephesians 4:25, "Therefore, let each one put away lies and speak the truth with his neighbor because we are members of one another."

Do you love Jesus? John 14:15-17, "If you love Me, Keep the Commandments— namely, My Commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that it may be with you throughout the age: 17 Even the Spirit of the truth, which the world cannot receive because it perceives it not, nor knows it; but you know it because it dwells with you, and shall be within you." 1 John 5:3, "For this is the love of God: that we keep His Commandments; and His Commandments are not burdensome." 1 John 2:4, "The one who says, 'I know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

Have false witnesses steered you away from the truth? 1 John 5:2-3, "By this standard we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God: that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome." Do you choose to reject The Creation Sabbath? God commands the keeping of the seventh day of the week, the Sabbath Day, as a day of honor, worship, and rest! Do you teach others to break the commandments?

Avoid The Unpardonable Sin

Are you committing the unforgivable sin? 1 John 5:7, "And it is the Spirit that bears witness because the {Holy} Spirit is the truth." Jesus gives this dire cautionary warning in: Matthew 12:30-32, "The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters. 31 Because of this, I say to you, every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men except the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit; that shall not be forgiven to men. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age nor in the coming age." When you speak against the Truth of God, which is the Holy Spirit; you are in effect condemning yourself to punishment!

Speaking the truth is a vital aspect of righteousness. When people stray away from or falsely represent the truth; damning sin is committed. John 4:23-24, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is indeed seeking those who worship Him in this manner. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth." There are those who declare Sunday, the first day of the week, as the "Lord's Day." However scripture tells us in, Mark 2:28, "Therefore, the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Why do people reject Sabbath worship? Mark 2:27, "And He said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.' " Matthew 12:8, "For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day."

Jesus spoke these words in Matthew 12:39-40, "And He answered and said to them, 'A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. 40 For just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, in like manner the Son of man shall be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.' " How many of you believe the false witnesses, who are telling you that "Jesus died on a Friday and had a Sunday sunrise resurrection"?

1 Corinthians 15:3-4, For in the first place, I delivered to you what I also had received: that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures; 4 And that He was buried; and that He was raised the third day, according to the Scriptures." Jesus was in the grave three days and three nights as so was Jonah! Do you despise prophecy? 1 Thessalonians 5:20, "Despise not prophecies." 1 Thessalonians5:21-22, lets you know that it is your personal responsibility to: "Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good. 22 Abstain from every form of wickedness."

Basically when people speak words as a false witness, they are guilty of speaking against the Holy Spirit! Against the Word of God! Ephesians 6:11, "Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:17, "And put on the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

Summation

Jesus said, as quoted in John 6:44, "No one can come to Me unless the Father, Who sent Me, draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day." If you have been drawn to Jesus by the Father; then Jesus' following prayer applies to you: John 17:14-20, "I have given them Your words, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You would take them out of the world, but that You would keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in Your truth; Your Word is the truth. 18 Even as You did send Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they also may be sanctified in Your truth. 20 I do not pray for these only, but also {I pray} for those who shall believe in Me through their word {of truthful witness}."

Proverbs gives some warnings and directions: Proverbs 25:18, "A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is a maul {a war club}, and a sword, and a sharp arrow." Proverbs 21:28,"A false witness shall perish, but the man who listens to truth will speak unchallenged." Proverbs 24:28-29, "Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, nor deceive with your lips." 29, "Do not say, 'I will do so to him as he has done to me; I will give to the man according to his work.' "

We get the following admonition from the book of Exodus 23:1-3, "You shall not raise a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. 2 You shall not follow a multitude to do evil. Neither shall you testify in a cause in order to side with many so as to pervert judgment. 3 Neither shall you be partial to a poor man in his cause."

We need to be alive and following Christ! Colossians 2:6-8, "Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, be walking in Him; 7 Being rooted and built up in Him, and being confirmed in the faith, exactly as you were taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Be on guard so that no one takes you captive through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the traditions of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ." People claim to be Christians, thus taking the name of Christ. Luke 6:46, "And why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' but you do not do the things what I say?"

Be on your guard! Matthew 24:5, "For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ'; and they shall deceive many." Matthew 24:21-27, "For then shall there be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until this time, nor ever shall be again. 22 And if those days were not limited, there would no flesh be saved {alive}; but for the elect's sake those days shall be limited. 23 Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or, 'He is there,' do not believe it. 24 For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and they shall present great signs and wonders, in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 Behold, I have foretold it to you. 26 Therefore, if they say to you, 'Come and see! He is in the wilderness'; do not go forth. 'Come and see! He is in the secret chambers'; do not believe it. 27 For as the light of day, which comes forth from the east and shines as far as the west, so also shall the coming of the Son of man be."

New Covenant Saints have been called to love and obey God, worshiping Him in spirit and in truth! Ephesians 4:11-15, "And He gave some as apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; 13 Until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 So that we no longer be children, tossed and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men in cunning craftiness, with a view to the systematizing of the error; 15 But holding the truth in love, may in all things grow up into Him Who is the Head, even Christ." When there is unity; there is no discord.
