Pride Examined in Detail |

Pride heads the list of the seven deadly sins held to be fatal to spiritual progress, which are: Pride, covetousness, lust, anger, gluttony, envy and slothfulness. Pride, then, was the first sin to destroy the calm of eternity, and shadow the heart of God in the realm of eternal harmony. Satan began to be occupied with his own splendor and beauty, according to Ezekiel 28:14-18, "….I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation...I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." Satan’s lofty thoughts led to his expulsion from heaven. “The middle letter in pride is “I,” just as “I” is the middle letter in sin. Self aka Ego is at the heart of all sin; for sin is centered around “I.” I must have my pleasure; I must have my way; I must have everything my heart desires no matter what it costs me or others. Isaiah 14:12-15, How you have fallen from heaven, O day star, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of nations.13 You said in your heart: “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of assembly, in the far reaches of the north.14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”15 But you will be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the Pit. We have a sector of society today embracing something they call “PRIDE” it has to do with perversion and flaunting their agenda and sexual exploitation on innocent children teaching lies and grooming people into accepting lies about their gender and lusting after things that have nothing to do with love but with selfishness and self gratification This sin is also called having ‘haughty eyes’. God despises pride. It is the original sin, before the fall of man. It was through pride and haughtiness that Satan fell from heaven thinking that he could be superior to God. James 4:6, "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: 'God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.' " We should never forget that everything we are and all that we have comes from God. Pride will kill you. Pride is the sin most likely to keep you from crying out for a Savior. Pride is often hard to spot and extremely dangerous. People who have pride have a mental illness they are often unaware of or they do not care. Pride paints the ugliness of their and others sin as beautiful and commendable. Isaiah 5:20, "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Proverbs 16:5, "Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished." That it is not merely arrogance it is an abomination to the Lord; the arrogant person is an abomination as well. Of all that God hates, of all that is an abomination to him, what is first on the list? Haughty prideful, arrogant eyes. Haughty eyes does not refer to how a person views himself and others. He views them as less than himself, and thinks they are essentially worthless. He is arrogant and puffed up with his own sense of value. The word "hate" is vicious, venomous, and destructive. When we experience "hatred" it usually means we loathe certain things, we seek to avoid them, we speak ill of them, and we vote against them. We do everything possible to forget them. Hatred in the heart of God is righteous hatred, pure, unalloyed, unmitigated disgust and revulsion. For something to be an “abomination” to God means that it is a stench in his nostrils. Such is what God feels about pride: he hates it; it is an utter abomination. Pride provokes God to wrath and indignation; it irritates him, agitates him, and displeases him beyond words. Pride is a precursor to all other forms of sin. Pride is the soil in which all manner of sin germinates and grows. Proverbs 16:18-19 "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud." I could multiply verses many times that say essentially the same thing about pride. First comes pride, then destruction of the proud person. Pride is the ugly part of our heart that causes us to be more concerned self and your own reputation than you are about Christ and his. Pride is the underlying cause of all sin If you take the time to excavate your sin, beneath it all you would discover the rotting bones of pride and arrogance. Numerous sins are the direct fallout of pride. |

Pride Causes Many Things |

|
Pride makes us Bitter. Bitterness is that sour feeling in our souls when we believe that someone has offended us or defrauded us or failed to deliver on what we thought they owed us. We believe it makes us look bad in the eyes of others, or it deprives us of something we think we deserve. Pride leads often to Strife. Strife flows out of a competitive desire to be number one the best above anyone or anything else. ,It is the desire to be acknowledged by others, the desire for power and authority and praise. Pride leads to Deceit. Causing us lie and mislead others and speak in fuzzy rather than in forthright terms Because we hope to gain something for ourselves that we think we deserve, or we do it to hide something from others that we fear might make us look bad. Pride can lead to Hypocrisy. We are motivated to pretend to be something we are not because we fear being seen and known for what we really are. Pride often leads us to Slander. We tend to speak negatively of others, Why do we slander them? Perhaps because we’ve been hurt ourselves, even though we might have brought the hurt on ourselves with actions that harmed others. We don’t see it or believe it and we want revenge, or we want to gain acceptance with others, and the only way is to diminish them in the minds of those people whose favor or respect we must have. Pride also leads to Greed. Which is the desire to make more of and for ourselves than God wishes or allows. Pride stokes the fires of greed and materialism which is also known as Mammon and many people will choose this over God and His laws of righteousness and truth. during the Tribulation but others will be brought down to their knees in sincere repentance and Choose God and His Laws. But all too many people with Pride and Greediness can't stand the thought of other people thinking they aren't as rich, successful, talented, deserving, and sophisticated as some other people. The proud heart is unaffected to rebuke and insensitive to conviction. Every one of these sins grows from the same deadly root: PRIDE. Pride is the ugly part of our hearts that causes us to be more concerned about self, than we are about Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:7, Paul asks the arrogant Corinthians, "For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?" Pride is taking credit for what God has done. To know that all we have is a gift, that all we experience and enjoy is an expression of God’s goodness and not ours, to know that everything in our possession—especially our salvation—comes from the hand of God is to take the first step in defeating and dethroning pride from our hearts. Satan not only lead the parade of pride, he became the author of the next abomination of having a lying tongue. We learn from Jesus that the devil is the father of lies! John 8:44-45, "You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you desire to practice. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he is speaking from his own self; for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me."
